The Kalona City Council held their final reading for the ordinance amending the Kalona code of ordinances by adding intersections at which “Stop” and “No Parking” signs are required during their meeting Monday.

Discussions and first reading began in mid-July with the council choosing to waive the second reading and hold the final reading during their Monday meeting. Installation of six new stop signs in the Northview subdivision will take place next week. Kalona City Council Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says that the Planning and Zoning Commission had presented them with a full map of recommendations for placements of “Stop” and  “No Parking” signs. With no homes and little traffic currently in the Northview subdivision, “No Parking” signs will be placed at a later date.
