The biggest sports story from the last academic year for Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk sports takes us to the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

The No. 1 ranked Mid-Prairie girls cross country team posted their fourth consecutive team state title in class 2A, in their most dominant fashion yet. The Golden Hawks were the wire-to-wire top ranked team in the state all season. The Hawks state score of 45 points is the best of all of their title teams and second best in the history of Iowa cross country in the 5K era. Within the constructs of the team title, Golden Hawk freshman Danielle Hostetler continued the family tradition. She won the individual 2A championship with a time of 19:08. That marks the fifth consecutive year that a Mid-Prairie runner has won the indidivual title, the previous four belonging to her older sisters, Anna once and Marie three times. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Jaden Yoder third, Mitzi Evans seventh, Sidney Yoder ninth, Ana Fleming 25th, Phoebe Shetler 26th and Abby Fleming 28th. Golden Hawk head coach Mark Hostetler was named the 2020 Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year for the state of Iowa by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and girls at-large Coach of the Year by the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association. Golden Hawk Ana Fleming became only the eighth runner in the history of Iowa to be a member of a state championship squad all four years of her high school career, dating back to 1930. Hostetler, Jaden Yoder, Mitzi Evans and Sidney Yoder were all chosen to represent Mid-Prairie on the class 2A All-State team.

The Golden Hawk boys were sixth in their 2A meet. The No. 6 ranked Golden Hawks finished with 177 points. Jamison Stutzman was the top Mid-Prairie runner with his 20th place finish in 18:02. Other Golden Hawks included Lucas Bontrager 25th, Nathan Wallington 39th, Chandler Hershberger 41st, Thaddeus Shetler 52nd, Mose Yoder 72nd and Daniel Rodgers 102nd.
