The search for the next public health administrator was discussed at the Washington County Board of Health meeting Thursday.

County Human Resources Director Amber Armbruster informed the board that they have received 10 total applications with five of them completing all the required paperwork. The deadline for applications is a week from today. Armbruster asked the board who will be in charge of screening applicants and other related next steps, as she thinks it should be more in the board’s hands than hers.

Interim administrator Chris Estle recommended that the board decide what qualifications they want in an administrator, if they for instance want someone with a Master’s degree in public health administration like predecessor Danielle Pettit-Majewski or if they want someone with a nursing background like Estle. Armbruster also asked Board Chair Cathy Buffington about the survey feedback received from county employees about this position. The board decided to schedule a work session for August 31st at 7 a.m. to discuss this further as well as public health’s organizational staff chart.
