A semi truck carrying livestock crashed in Wayland Wednesday.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received reports at approximately 12:43 p.m. of a 2016 Freightliner that had tipped over on its side. Fifty-four year-old William R. Peden of Tuscumbia, Missouri, was transporting over 700 small pigs as he was trying to pull into a private farm driveway at 1573 Gabriel Avenue. While making a right turn, the left steer tire dropped off the edge of the roadway which caused the semi to tip. Peden drove a short distance westbound before the truck rolled over on its side. The Wayland Fire Department responded to assist in recovering the pigs from the trailer. Peden was cited with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
