Bikers, veterans and the public are coming together to help bring awareness to military sexual trauma.
Healing at English River Outfitters, or HERO, is hosting a motorcycle ride from Riverside to Washington today to help bring awareness to MST and help those struggling with it find a community that supports them. HERO Female Veterans Coordinator Bobbi Whitlow expresses her thoughts on the impact this event can have, “When we do this awareness it’s bringing the topic of military sexual trauma, which has been kind of a hot topic in the past couple of years, we’re bringing that to the forefront with the community by doing this ride. Also by registering and paying the entry fee for the ride that money will go to benefit HERO and in particular the women’s program.”
Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Riverside VFW with “kickstands up” at 11 with an entry fee of $20 per bike. The ride will end at Unc and Nephs Bar and Grill with a few stops in between. A silent auction and raffle will take place throughout the event with winners picked at the end of the ride. Whitlow hopes to have this event every year to continue to raise awareness.
