Users are reminded of a portion of the Kewash Nature Trail closed for paving west of Washington.
Washington County Conservation in partnership with MSA Professional Services Inc. and DeLong Construction Inc. began phase two of the paving on August 16th. The work involves 1.41 miles of trail from where the pavement ends near Willow Pond to the Crooked Creek Bridge. While no specific completion date has been given, the conservation hopes to have construction done before the beginning of winter. During this time the trail will be closed to the public and there will not be any detours. Washington County Conservation Executive Director Zach Rozmus gives suggestions for possible route options, “Individuals from Washington can still ride out to Willow Pond and they can make a loop up to the Kirkwood Center, which is located at the trailhead right there. That can be kind of a nice little loop locally.”
Rozmus added that some residents have parked in West Chester and taken the trail to Keota to see the newly installed glow in the dark rocks at that trailhead. The conservation board stresses that they intend to take every precaution necessary to preserve the tree canopy on the trail section undergoing work.
