The first glimpse at the 2021 season for the Washington football team was Friday when they welcomed Muscatine for a scrimmage.
Both teams traded off 10 minutes of offense and defense for an hour in the first live action of the fall. The Demons scored a couple touchdowns offensively including a 17 yard pass from Ethan Patterson to John Prochaska and a 35 yard scamper from Patterson.
Head Coach Nick Ehret tells KCII Sports they got out of the scrimmage what they were hoping for. “Especially defensively I thought the first 12 plays we ran were very good. I thought we were solid upfront, had physical play in the linebacking crew, and the secondary is really athletic. As the night went on we got tired, but that is to be expected. There were a lot of good things from tonight, but we will watch film and fix the little mistakes.”
The Demons officially start the campaign on Friday traveling to Bracewell Stadium to face Burlington. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and can be heard on FM 106.1 KCII.
