Any pregame nerves were immediately wiped out for the WACO Warrior football team on Friday when they entertained Twin Cedars for a week zero game and had no trouble in a 52-0 beatdown.

The first 48-minute shutout for the Warriors since 2017 saw the defense be dominant with the Sabers (0-1) having -10 yards of total offense and the only first down they had was on a pass interference. Colton Leichty recovered two fumbles and Isaac Oswald intercepted a pass and scampered 28 yards to the house. Several players saw plenty of action under the lights with WACO racing out to a 26-0 advantage after one and 40-0 at the break. A total of 311 yards offensively was headlined by Reece Oswald carrying the rock five times for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Neal, Drew Diers, Simeon Reichenbach, and John Rice each added rushing scores and Isaac Oswald tossed a 22 yard touchdown pass to Jonah Clark.

Head Coach Chad Edeker tells KCII Sports it started with the boys upfront. “It was our front six that dominated. That was at all levels, not just our varsity players. Our JV and freshmen came in and did a really good job of stopping the run. We had some good pass breakups in the secondary. When you only give up one first down you know you are doing something right.”

WACO starts up the season 1-0 and they hit the road Friday at Springville.
