Absentee voting begins today for two special elections happening in the KCII Radio-listening area on September 14th.
The Washington Community School District is asking residents to vote on whether a $25 million bond referendum should be passed to renovate and add onto the current high school for new middle school facilities. The Winfield-Mt. Union School District is asking whether to issue $3,255,000 in bonds to construct, furnish and equip a combination performing arts/athletic competition facility and improve the site; to construct, build, and furnish a classroom addition to the industrial tech building and a weight room addition to the high school building.
Residents can vote via absentee at the Washington, Henry, and Louisa county auditor’s offices from 8-4:30 p.m. from now until September 13th. The Washington County Auditor’s Office is also open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on August 30th, September 3rd, and September 10th. Mailed absentee ballot requests must be received by the respective auditor’s office no later than 5 p.m. on August 30th.
Polls will be open on election day from 7 a.m.-8 p.m., and mailed absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor by 8 p.m.
