The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved several personnel change requests this week, while the Washington Economic Development Group executive director gave an update on an ongoing project.

The Supervisors approved changing status of jailers Jacob Baughman and Stephanie Patterson from casual part time to full time, termination of jailer/reserve deputy Michael Cope and jail shift supervisor Mike Yoder, and termination of The Family Connection Program Coordinator Christine Glosser and Parent Educator Jessica Haro-Ponce as the public health program is merging with Henry County for the service. They also hired Kallie McQuiggin as a new full-time dispatcher. In department reports, WEDG Director Mary Audia informed the board of a childcare study that is being conducted this fall, “The surveys will be going out shortly, they’re going to go to three different groups. It’ll be providers, it’ll be like working families or people that intend to have children, and also employers. So we’re going to come at it from a workforce is our central focus since we’re having issues with that and take an inventory of childcare around the county.”

Audia mentioned that several local communities have helped pitch in to commission First Children’s Finance to conduct the study, which should be completed in November.
