It was a productive start to the volleyball season for Winfield-Mt. Union last night when they hosted Keokuk for a non-conference bout and came out on top in four sets.

Last year the Wolves captured their first Southeast Iowa Super Conference title since 1996 and last night they picked up right where they left off with set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 16-25, and 25-15. Bradie Buffington led the offense with 14 kills and Melina Oepping added eight. In 2020 Keely Malone recorded a team best 273 assists and on Thursday she started the new campaign with 19. Keetyn Townsley registered 31 digs, Buffington had four blocks, and the team connected on 93% of their serves including Oepping being a perfect 17 of 17.

The Wolves start up the fall 1-0 and get back on the court tomorrow at West Branch for a tournament.
