The No. 9 ranked Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team passed a stiff road test Friday night in Durant, beating the No. 7 Wildcats 23-20 in come from behind fashion. SK got out of the gates well, holding a 13-6 lead after the first quarter and after a scoreless second frame, they would take that lead into the locker room. The third quarter saw the home team counter punch with the Wildcats putting up a pair of scores to go up 20-13. Just as they did in 2020, the Cobras responded with big plays in the clutch, scoring 10 in the fourth quarter and shutting out the Wildcats to secure the victory.

SK put up 267 total yards, 225 of that on the ground. Cade Molyneux had 32 carries for 187 yards and a touchdown. Through the air Molyneux and Colten Clarahan combined to go 3/6 for 42 yards and a touchdown. Levi Crawford pulled in the 40 yard scoring strike from Molyneux through the air. On special teams, Sigourney-Keota had a big edge with Colten Clarahan going a perfect three for three in the kicking game with a long of 48 yards. Turnovers were a big part of the game story with the Cobras throwing three interceptions while SK forced a pair of fumbles and one pick defensively. Ethan Shifflett led the SK defense with five and a half tackles and a fumble recovery. Zach Smithart recovered the other Wildcat fumble and Cole Clarahan pulled in an interception. SK is now 1-0 on the year as they gear up for their home opener Friday night in a rivalry game with visiting Mid-Prairie.
