The Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association has released their week two cross country rankings for the 2021 season. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls maintain their hold on the top spot in class 2A following their team championship at Anamosa Saturday. The Hawks are led by four ranked runners in their lineup in the same spots as a week ago with defending state champion and last Saturday’s individual champion at Anamosa Danielle Hostetler holding down the top spot in 2A. Jaden Yoder is ranked second, Mitzi Evans eighth, and Sidney Yoder 12th. The Golden Hawk boys are still sixth in class 2A after their fourth place team finish at Anamosa.
The Columbus Wildcats remain at 14th in this week’s class 1A poll. Isaac Acosta checks in at No. 18 individually in the 1A poll for the second straight week.
Washington Demon Lance Sobaski has launched into this week’s class 3A individual boys ratings. Sobaski, who was runner-up at Anamosa Saturday, is No. 15 this week. The senior headlines a Demon squad that is ranked in the team standings for the first time since 1998, slotted as the 17th best team.
