As Labor Day approaches, many offices and services in Kalona, Riverside and Wellman will be taking the day off.

City halls, post offices, the Wellman-Scofield and Kalona public libraries and most banking institutions will be closed on Monday and reopen on Tuesday. Regular city council meetings are scheduled to meet on Tuesday. Monday’s garbage routes in Kalona will run on Tuesday with Riverside’s operating as normal on Monday and Wellman garbage pick up on Thursday. Wellman will be operating yard waste pick up routes on Tuesday. The front desk at the Kalona YMCA will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and closed on Monday.
