An online business now has a brick and mortar setting in downtown Washington.

The Washington Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors celebrated the grand opening of Rural Roots Salon and Boutique with a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon at the business located at 213 West Washington Street. Rural Roots is co-owned by Washington residents Katie Quinn and Carly Schneider. Quinn shares how their journey to a storefront location began in 2018, “My sister-in-law and I had kind of talked about it off and on and we kind of just decided to go for it. It was all on Facebook for the past three years. We just kind of grew our business from there and did everything online, and did free shipping and if it was a local person we would drop it off and deliver. And we had been doing that and really so loved it, but this opportunity kind of came up and we just knew we wanted to go for it.”

After closing on the building and a month of renovation, Quinn and Schneider were excited to welcome the Chamber Ambassadors, community members, and family to their business with refreshments and prize drawings. Rural Roots Salon and Boutique is open Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon with availability for salon appointments outside of those times. Schneider’s services include hair cuts, coloring, extensions and eyebrow waxing, and patrons can also find women’s style clothing, shoes, and accessories.
