A Washington man was recently ordered to continue to serve his probation after violating it for a second time this year.
Court records show 38-year-old Billy Edward Stage was arrested on August 10th for violating his probation on a conviction of second-degree theft, and forgery, both class D felonies. A probation violation report included offenses such as Stage admitting to smoking methamphetamine and failing to attend appointments with his supervising officer. On Friday the court ordered Stage’s probation and suspended prison sentence not to be revoked, though he must now reside in a residential treatment facility for 365 days or until maximum benefits have been achieved. Until space becomes available in that facility, Stage shall be held in the Washington County Jail. He must also pay court-appointed attorney fees if applicable, court costs, and category B restitution. Stage was previously found guilty of violating his probation in April, for which he was ordered to serve 180 days in the county jail, obtain a substance abuse evaluation and undergo all treatment recommended by healthcare professionals or his probation officer.
Stage was originally ordered to serve three years probation with a five-year suspended prison sentence for offenses that occurred on February 13th 2020.
