There was a lot of movement for KCII area cross country teams in the week two polls released by the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls remained at No. 1 in the class 2A team poll, after a dominant win over the weekend at the Central College Invitational that featured a team score of just 21 points. The entire Mid-Prairie scoring portion of their lineup is featured in the top 22 of the 2A individual poll, led by last year’s state champion Danielle Hostetler at No. 1. She has been the individual champion of each event that Hawks have run so far this year. She’s joined in the individual 2A ratings by Mitzi Evans at No. 6, Sydney Yoder at No. 14, Phoebe Shetler No. 21 and Jaden Yoder No. 22.
The Mid-Prairie boys moved up a spot this week in the team rankings from sixth to fifth. The Hawks were team runners-up at the Central College Invite Saturday in Pella. Thaddeus Shetler has also moved into the individual 2A rankings this week for Mid-Prairie, checking in at No. 10.
The Washington Demon boys are ranked No. 19 in class 3A this week. The Demons were team runners-up in Ottumwa last week. Lance Sobaski continues to climb in the individual poll for Washington, moving up from 15th to 12th this week. The Demon girls are ranked for the first time in 2021, checking in at No. 20 in class 3A this week following their team title at Ottumwa.
The Columbus Wildcat boys remain ranked in class 1A, standing at No. 19. Isaac Acosta is at No. 19 in the 1A individual poll.
