COVID-19 cases are beginning to have an impact for extracurricular activities in the Mid-Prairie School District.
Just two weeks into the school year, positive tests for COVID-19 have appeared in the student body including the varsity football team. Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider says efforts are being made to help meet the challenges when they come, “I’ve talked to some of the custodial staff this morning and we’re stepping up our cleaning and disinfection efforts to try to stay on top of things. We’ll meet the challenges as they come to us.”
Schneider added that he plans to meet with school nurses to discuss what options are available to help keep everyone safe and healthy and what measures should be put in place. While there are no set rules for quarantining, anyone who tests positive or has come into contact with someone who has tested positive is encouraged to stay home and monitor their symptoms. Friday’s football game has been cancelled due to injury and illnesses on the team. Practice for the JV and varsity teams will continue as normal this week. Homecoming will also move ahead as scheduled next week.
