More results released from the Iowa State Fair continue to show local winners from Washington County in various contests.
Dan Hogan of Riverside finished second in the floriculture coleus competition. Joining Hogan from Riverside is Craig Hansen with first and second place finishes in nine categories in the open class poultry competition including cochins black hen and black silver laced pullet. Lisa Kesten of Wellman received second for youth lead line child rider in the quarter horse competition. Representing Kalona in the horse: percheron and clydesdale herdsmanship contest was Gingerich Percherons who finished first in the best of Iowa-percheron and herdsmanship and second in the junior filly foal categories. Steve Miller of Wayland took home the gold in the Iowa State Men’s Championship Horseshoe Pitching. Seven-year-old Adelyn Carr of West Chester finished second in the 7-year-old kids pedal power pull with a final distance of 38.1 feet. For a full list of results visit here.
