An investigation remains ongoing regarding an incident at the WACO Secondary Building Thursday.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office states that at around 6:30 p.m. they received a call regarding a subject on their way to the WACO school property after threatening harm to another individual. Due to the circumstances of the threat, school officials and the sheriff’s office decided to suspend activities that evening including a volleyball game that was taking place at the school. The Wayland and Mount Pleasant police departments and Iowa State Patrol also responded, and all students and fans were safely removed from the school. A short time later the suspect that caused the alarm was apprehended by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Classes and activities resumed on Friday with a law enforcement presence at the elementary and secondary buildings as well as counseling if students or staff needed support, according to Secondary Principal Tim Bartels. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
