The Hillcrest Academy volleyball team faced a talented field Saturday at the Wilton invitational. The Ravens were beaten in the five matches they played. They dropped contests with Mount Pleasant, 21-15 and 21-9, Winfield-Mt. Union 21-11 and 21-11, Burlington 21-14, 10-21 and 15-7, Midland 27-25 and 21-13 and Wilton 21-17 and 21-5. On the day, Hillcrest was led by 38 assists from Norah Yoder, 26 digs each for Malia Yoder and Evelyn Gerber and 21 kills for Esther Hughes, after the weekend, the Ravens are now 3-11 as they prepare for Pekin Tuesday.
Winfield-Mt. Union was also in action at the tournament, posting a 4-1 mark and second place finish with wins over Hillcrest 21-11 and 21-11, Midland 21-9 and 21-12, Burlington 21-8 and 21-7, and Mount Pleasant 21-12 and 21-7. The only loss for WMU on the day was to the home team, falling to the Beavers 21-11 and 21-7. On the day the Lady Wolves were led by Bradie Buffington with 23 kills, Keely Malone with 41 assists, and Keetyn Townsley with 42 digs. The Wolves are 8-4 on the season and travel to Columbus Tuesday.
