You can make a few bucks or find a secondhand treasure in downtown Washington tomorrow.
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Washington chapter is hosting their first ever “Junk in the Trunk” flea market event from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The public can pay a fee to pull up their vehicle or park some tables on the north and east sides of Central Park and sell items at their own prices. Proceeds from the space rentals will go toward the DAR’s annual high school scholarships and needed improvements of the Sunset Park log cabin. Treasurer Marj Lins encourages those who don’t want the hassle of hosting their own sale to take part, “Anyone that is maybe moving or downsizing. I wish I would have known this a year ago because my husband and I did that. And right now a lot of people with the housing market are moving and people, maybe empty nesters, so it’s good for almost anyone.”
Lins says participants are not allowed to sell food, as there will be food vendors on the west side of the park for people to enjoy. Cost is $35 to rent one space and $50 for two, and you can find contact information to make a reservation above.
