It was the first shutout of the season for the No. 4 Sigourney-Keota football team on Friday when they welcomed Pleasantville for homecoming and rolled the Trojans 42-0 at the Snake Pit.

It took the offense a few series to get going with a slight 7-0 lead after one quarter before exploding for 28 points in the second to take a 35-0 lead into half. Nothing got past the Cobra defense, as they surrendered just 63 yards to the Trojans on 37 plays. Karson Weber led the unit with 4.5 tackles. The offense recorded 339 rushing yards led by Cade Molyneux carrying the rock 13 times for 207 yards and three scores. Colten Clarahan added one score on the ground and one through the air on a 29 yard pass to Evan Dawson. Reid Molyneux finished with 32 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Cobra Head Coach Jared Jensen tells KCII Sports they changed some things on the defensive line and it paid dividends. “We tried to do something different this week by rotating our d-linemen a little more. We feel that we have nine linemen that are very capable and there is no drop-off so we did a group A and group B. To have four fresh bodies throughout the game really overwhelmed their offensive line and it also helped our offense because those same guys were rested for that side of the ball.”

The Cobras improve to 4-0 and they gear up for a top-five matchup Friday when they travel to No. 5 Pella Christian (4-0).
