The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team made it back to back River Valley Conference match wins on Tuesday, breaking out the brooms on the visiting Durant Wildcats on Senior Night at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. The Hawks took the match by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-21. After the match, Mid-Prairie’s four seniors, Cana Rediger, Maddie Nonnenmann, Ainsley Miller and Alyssa McDowell spoke with KCII Sports about the highlights of the night and their final season in the program. “We were ready to play tonight, we were super excited. It’s our second to last home game. It’s bittersweet in a way but we were ready to go out and play. We all just wanted it tonight. We were all determined to win and we did it. We wanted to go out with a bang. We played in a little bit different spots tonight than we normally would, but we worked well together and played with confidence. This season has been good. I feel like we have already  had a better year than our others in high school so far. It feels nice to be able to leave the program like this.”

Ella Groenewold played above the net all night for the Hawks, finishing with a team best eight kills and six blocks. Landry Pacha had 18 assists and Dakota Mitchell had 13 digs. This is the first time that the Hawks have won back to back best of five conference matches since October of 2014 when they knocked off Iowa City Regina and Wilton consecutively. With the win, Mid-Prairie is now 7-5 as they get ready for rival Iowa City Regina Tuesday.
