A Brighton man already facing a felony second-degree theft charge was arrested after an alleged incident on Highway 1 Monday.
The criminal complaint states that at about 11:29 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was informed that 51-year-old Brian Ray Johnson was standing in the roadway near the Skunk River Access and had hit a car with his hands. Johnson was wanted for failure to appear for arraignment on theft and eluding charges. Sheriff’s deputies located Johnson at the intersection of North Benton and Fountain streets in Brighton and advised that he was under arrest. Johnson was uncooperative and became confrontational with the deputies. They were able to take Johnson into custody and upon searching him they found a glass methamphetamine pipe and a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. He was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine – first offense, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
