A Coralville man has been ordered to serve probation for a Washington County offense.

Court records show that 39-year-old Timothy Donald Messier pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, and was given a suspended five-year prison sentence to serve five years probation. He shall be placed in a residential treatment facility and successfully complete the program when a bed becomes available. A $1,025 fine with a surcharge was suspended though Messier must pay category B restitution. This sentence is to be served consecutively with that of a third-degree burglary conviction in Johnson County.

Messier was arrested last January for the incident that occurred on January 30, 2020. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in Kalona where Messier was in the front passenger seat trying to conceal himself as he had active arrest warrants. Law enforcement observed him attempting to conceal a methamphetamine pipe, which was seized and sent to the Division of Criminal Investigation Lab for analysis where the residue was confirmed to be meth.
