With every passing week more and more people are becoming believers in the WACO football team and tomorrow they will have the opportunity to add to that list with a tough district showdown at New London.
The Warriors are 5-0 overall, 3-0 in eight-player district 6, and come in ranked ninth in the latest Iowa AP Poll. Last week they dismantled Iowa Valley 42-6 on the strength of winning the turnover battle 6-1. The defense that has held opponents to 11 points a game has 19 turnovers altogether. That has set up a short field for the offense time and time again with Simeon Reichenbach leading that side of the ball with 635 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. New London is 2-1, 1-1 in the league, and coming off of a 39-34 loss to English Valleys. The program that is just three years removed from a state title has plenty of offensive weapons with Boden Pickle picking up 10.8 yards per rush for 237 total and five touchdowns. The offense has put up 54 points an outing and given up 19 points a game. The Tigers have won the last four meetings in the series including a 52-6 victory last year.
The district showdown gets underway at 7 p.m. tomorrow in New London.
