New London is where Highland and Columbus were sent for pool play of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament on Thursday and both KCII area schools fell short of advancing.

In the four team pool, Highland placed third going 1-2 on the evening, and Columbus was fourth with a 0-3 mark. Highland lost to Central Lee (16-21, 15-21) and New London (7–21, 10-21), but swept the Wildcats (21-12, 21-13). In addition to falling to the Huskies, Columbus lost to Central Lee (8-21, 9-21) and New London (10-21, 11-21). Sera Vela recorded 14 assists on the night, Victoria Howell had seven kills, and Isabelle Lagunas managed six digs. 

The Tigers and Hawks advanced to today’s finals at Southeastern Community College. Highland is now 8-8 and Columbus drops to 3-16.
