The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk junior varsity cross country team got a chance to stand in the spotlight last week at the Heartland Classic on the campus of Central College in Pella. The event featured more than 1,700 competitors from five different states.

The Golden Hawk girls finished 11th of 18 teams with a 258 score. They were led by Amara Jones in 30th with a time of 22:57. Other Mid-Prairie runners included Ivy Reschly 43rd, Dessa Poll 50th, Greta Sieren 67th, Anna Flynn 68th, Lilou Beachy 81st and Grace Conway 86th.

The Mid-Prairie boys were 21st of 25 teams with a score of 574. Top finisher for the Golden Hawks was Sam Yoder in 90th with a time of 19:43. Other Golden Hawk runners included Jordan Stock 103rd, Blake Creed 119th, Mose Yoder 121st, Kaden Meader 141st, Thomas Flynn 144th and Andrew Stultz 150th. Mid-Prairie junior varsity and varsity teams will all be in action Monday at the Iowa City Kickers Complex for the Clear Creek Amana Classic.
