Tim Grady Gymnasium at Mid-Prairie High School will play host to a big River Valley Conference volleyball match Tuesday as the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks welcome the rival Iowa City Regina Regals to Wellman. The Golden Hawks are 7-5 on the year, 2-3 in the RVC after back-to-back conference wins over Cascade and Durant in the last two weeks. For the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Ella Groenewold with 76 kills and 33 blocks, Landry Pacha has 203 assists and Dakota Mitchell 144 digs. Iowa City Regina is 12-8 on the year and 3-3 in the RVC. In their last action they went 5-0 to win the Springville tournament championship Saturday with wins over Durant, North Cedar, Calamus Wheatland, Tipton and the Orioles on their home floor. The Regals are led by Lily Simpson with 203 kills, 101 digs and 25 blocks and Peyton Naeve with 196 assists. Regina has won 22 of the last 24 in the series including 11 straight. The Golden Hawks last victory over their rivals came in October of 2014. Tonight is “dig pink” pink out night in Wellman with a focus on cancer awareness. Action starts at 7:15p.m. at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
