Hillcrest Academy students and staff are preparing for their third annual Homecoming/Alumni Family Weekend.

To build up anticipation for the weekend, students and staff are participating in spirit week by coming to school in their pajamas, putting on their best athlete or mathlete look, showing off their country or country club attire, dressing in beach clothes and showing off class pride with class distinction day. Kicking off festivities Friday night, Hillcrest alumni will have the opportunity to participate in the alumni volleyball game at 5:30 p.m. followed by the alumni soccer game. Saturday morning will begin with the Joetown Classic 5k at 10 a.m.. Registration is $30 in advance or $35 day of. During and after the race the campus will be open for alumni and families to tour with an inflatable obstacle course for kids to enjoy. A new feature for this year is the unveiling of the painting “Hillcrest” by alumni Kara Schlabaugh. The school commissioned the painting to commemorate the school’s 75th anniversary. The original painting will be on display for everyone to see with prints and signed copies available for purchase. Director of Advancement Jeremy Ours gives his thoughts on the painting, “It’s something that I think everyone will like. It’ll be an opportunity for everyone to have a piece of our history that commemorates our 75-year anniversary in the form of one of these fantastic paintings that Kara does hanging in their homes.

Proceeds from the art sale will go towards the school’s operating fund. A pork supper will wrap up the weekend from 4:30-7 p.m.Saturday. Cost for the meal is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, children ages 4-12 is $5 and children under the age of three are free. Carryout will be availabe.
