Not only did the WACO Warrior volleyball program celebrate a three set win over Cardinal on Monday night, but they also got to celebrate a career accomplishment for one individual.
In the victory, Grace Coble eclipsed 1,000 career assists in just one and a half years as the full time setter. The 5’9’’ junior tallied two assists as a freshman, broke out for 700 as a sophomore, and has 360 and counting this season for 1,062 total. Grace’s father and head coach Jay Coble tells KCII Sports this achievement says not only a lot about her, but her teammates as well. “There can’t be any stat in sports that is more centered around the team than an assist. You need to have a great pass and then also need to have great hitters. I am proud of Grace, but also really proud of her teammates for helping her get to 1,000. That is a testament to all of the players in the last few years. It is a great accomplishment for her and a great team mark for our program.”
Coble was a first team all south division selection last fall in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and is well on her way for a repeat recognition. The Warriors sit at 16-8 this season and they get back at it tonight at Holy Trinity.
