Changes in bridge weight limits were approved by the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
County Engineer Jacob Thorius presented a bridge embargo resolution which lists 22 bridges and their weight limits. Thorius says these bridges are inspected every few years, and with this update they are removing eight structures from the list as they have either been replaced or underwent maintenance. They’re also adding six new structures to the list due to changes in state code that allow larger trucks to travel on secondary roads. While Thorius says his department does not notify nearby landowners of weight restriction changes, they will be posted on the structure and at the nearest intersections. He also informed the board that the main portion of work on Riverside Road finished two weeks ago, though they are still working on shoulders and driveways in that portion, and that the 18th Street grinding project northwest of Washington should be completed next week.
