It was an important Southeast Iowa Super Conference victory on Tuesday for the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team when they welcomed Lone Tree to town and had little trouble in a sweep.
The Wolves handled business with set scores of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-13. Melina Oepping led the offense with 10 kills and Bradie Buffington had nine. Keely Malone managed 26 assists and two blocks while Keetyn Townsley had 15 digs. Townsley was also successful on 31 of 33 serves with nine aces.
WMU stays a live for a league title by improving to 18-10 overall and 5-1 in the division. Wapello and Mediapolis sit at 5-0 with the two ready to face off tomorrow. Lone Tree is now 5-18 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
