A long road trip awaits the No. 5 Sigourney-Keota football team on Friday when they travel to Leon to face off with Central Decatur in week seven.
The Cobras sit at a perfect 6-0 and with a win could clinch at least a share of the class 1A district 6 crown. They are coming off of a 50-26 victory over Cardinal last week where the offense passed 2,000 rushing yards on the season. The offense averages 334 yards on the ground every night led by Cade Molyneux with 1,333 and 16 touchdowns. The defense has held opponents to an average of 10 points a game with the forced turnover count up to 12. The Cardinals are 4-2 and just squeaked by Van Buren 22-14 last week. Central Decatur likes to air the ball out with Matthew Boothe already eclipsing 1,000 yards for the fall. The senior has completed 70 of 145 passes for 1,037 yards and seven touchdowns. Trey Hullinger is his main target with 25 receptions for 474 yards and three scores. Their defense is also opportunistic with 14 takeaways in the six games.
The district matchup gets underway at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Leon.
