The first part of the Southeast Conference volleyball tournament was held in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday and Washington went 1-2 on the evening.
The Demons got revenge from an earlier season loss to Keokuk by downing the Chiefs in an exciting three set match by scores of 14-25, 25-23, and 15-13. Washington fell in the next two matches to Fairfield (19-25, 25-23, 7-15) and Mount Pleasant (22-25, 16-25).
The Demons will face off with Burlington and Fort Madison next week in part two of the round robin tournament. Mount Pleasant leads the pack with a 3-0 tournament mark, Keokuk sits at 2-1, Fairfield is 1-2, Fort Madison 1-1, and Burlington is 0-2. Washington is now 3-19 overall and they gear up for their home tournament on Saturday.
