The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team hits the road Thursday for a meeting with Monticello in an interdivisional River Valley Conference match. The Golden Hawks enter play with 12-7 overall record, 4-3 in the River Valley Conference after going 3-2 over the weekend at the New London tournament, finishing as runners-up. The Hawks have won four straight best of five RVC matches entering the night, their longest string in 15 years. For the season, the Hawks are led by Ella Gronewold’s 138 kills sixth in the RVC south, 432 assists from Landry Pacha third in the River Valley south and 302 digs for Dakota Mitchell second in the conference.
Monticello is 14-7 on the season and 6-1 in first place in the River Valley North. Monticello last played a week ago when they swept North Cedar in three sets. For the year, the Panthers are led by Jayden Kuper with 164 kills, best in the north division, Mallory Steiner with 370 assists, leading the north and Keziah McQuillen with 180 digs fourth in the RVC north. These teams have met four times with Monticello winning three, including two wins last year. Mid-Prairie’s last win in the series was a five set victory in 2015. Senior Night for the Panthers against Mid-Prairie starts tonight at 7:15 at Monticello High School.
