The Mid-Prairie High School marching band is soaring over to Muscatine High School for an invitational band competition tomorrow.
After a busy start to the year with performances of their Billy Joel-themed show during home football games, homecoming parade and pep rally and the Kalona Fall Festival, the Mid-Prairie band is competing in the Muskie Invite. Performances will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the invite wrapping up at 11. Mid-Prairie Band Director David Kunz says this is the first time they are participating in this competition and that they are excited to perform. Kunz expresses his gratitude for the band and how they have handled playing through the pandemic, “I am very proud and happy with how the band has handled the season so far and am looking forward to all the performances we still have coming up because I think it’s gonna be very exciting. It’s great to play live music in front of an audience.”
The competition will take place in the newly renovated Muscatine High School Stadium and those wishing to attend the invite can purchase tickets for $7 at the gate. Following their performance at the Muskie Invite, the Mid-Prairie band is scheduled to compete in the state marching band competition on October 16th. For more information, visit here.
