highland-huskies5-6

Lisbon has long been touted as a team that runs the football with plenty of success and that is exactly what happened Friday when the Lions hosted Highland and shutout the Huskies 43-0.

The Lions put up 346 yards on the ground with Jamien Moore and Max Kohl combining for 240 of them and four touchdowns. The rushing attack led the way to a 36-0 halftime advantage before adding one touchdown in the fourth. They recorded 101 yards through the air with Gavin Wollum completing five of seven passes. While the Lions could do what they wanted offensively, the Huskies had a night to forget. They tallied just 10 yards of total offense including minus six in the rushing department. Connor Grinstead completed three passes for 16 yards. The defense was led by Yahir Jimenez with 8.5 tackles.

Lisbon improves to 6-1 and captured the class A district 5 crown. Highland drops to 2-5, but they still control their own destiny for a postseason bid. The Huskies need to beat Pekin (0-7) on Friday in the regular season finale to punch their ticket.
