A Coralville man who was found guilty by a Washington County jury this June has been sentenced to prison.
Washington County Attorney John Gish states that 42-year-old Daniel Alvarado Zorola of Coralville was found guilty of second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor, for a September 16, 2019 incident. Zorola went into the hotel room of two elderly women at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort while they slept and the women awoke to discover he was taking a shower and subsequently saw him naked. Zorola took one of the women’s car keys and room key, got dressed and left the hotel in a vehicle belonging to one of the women. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation leading to Zorola’s arrest with the cooperation of the Riverside Casino security and hotel staff. The attorney’s office argued for the maximum possible prison sentence of 12 years. The court then sentenced him to 10 years in prison.
