The Keota City Council approved new ordinances for the use of golf carts and all-terrain vehicles on city streets during their meeting on October 4th.
The council adopted the ordinances upon third and final reading outlining the use of golf carts and ATVs on city streets. Golf carts within the City of Keota may be operated upon the streets of the city with requirements. The number of occupants shall not exceed the number of seats installed by the manufacturer in said vehicle and all drivers under 16 years old can only operate golf carts to and from the Lagos Acres Golf Course and Country Club. ATVs may be operated upon the streets by those possessing a valid drivers license and must be at least 18 years of age with the vehicle meeting all necessary Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ licensing and registration requirements. Any person who violates the ordinances may be charged with a simple misdemeanor and subject to a fine of up to $100 or a municipal infraction.
