The Lone Tree football team fell on senior night to the visiting New London Tigers Friday 53-8. It was a defensive game early, with New London up just 7-0 after one quarter, but the Tigers stretched the lead in the second frame, holding a 34-0 advantage at the break. They would score two more third quarter touchdowns to build a 46-0 lead going to the final period. In the fourth, the Tigers would score once more and the Lions would get on the board with a late 33-yard scoop and score touchdown from defensive lineman Caden Smith and a two point conversion.
Lone Tree was outgained in the loss 381-100 in total yards including 244-17 on the ground. Seniors honored by the Lions included Cade Patterson, Will Kleckner, Cade Shield and Tyler Bell. With the loss, Lone Tree is knocked out of playoff contention and sit at 3-4. They travel to Iowa Valley on Friday.
