The Lone Tree Lion football team will put the finishing touches on the 2021 season tonight when they travel to Iowa Valley to meet the Tigers on their Senior Night. Lone Tree comes into the game with a 3-4 record on the year. The Lions are 1-4 in 8-man district six. They were beaten by New London last week in Lone Tree on their Senior Night 54-8. The only points for the Lions were a scoop and score touchdown from Caden Smith as they were outgained 397 to 113 in total yards. Lone Tree is scoring 28 points per game while giving up 30. The Lions average 238 yards per game, 135 through the air and 103 on the ground. They are -8 in turnover margin. Individually, Lone Tree is led by Cade Shield at 79 of 141 through the air for 894 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. His favorite target is Cade Patterson with 46 catches for 567 yards and five scores. On the ground, Shield leads the Lion attack with 513 yards and nine touchdowns on 127 carries. Mathew Hemsted has a team best 47 tackles.
Iowa Valley is 3-4 overall this year and 2-3 in district play. Last week the Tigers were a 62-27 winner over HLV. The Tigers put up 574 total yards in their win over the Warriors. For the season Iowa Valley is scoring 43 points per game while giving up 46. They average 453 yards per game, 237 on the ground and 216 through the air. They have a turnover margin of -3. Individually, they are led by Evan Kearney at 48 of 78 in the passing game for 1,239 yards, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions. His favorite target is Brody Hoyt with 15 grabs for 266 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Kearney has 139 carries for 912 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense Hoyt has 63 tackles.
