Two Cedar Rapids residents had felony and other charges removed for a November 15th, 2020 incident in Washington County.
Forty-three year-old Dominic Jevon Davis and 42-year-old Tiffany Marie Langton were arrested on warrants last December for charges of third degree burglary, a class D felony; possession of burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor; and fourth-degree criminal mischief and trespassing causing injury or damage of more than $300, both serious misdemeanors.
Washington County Attorney John Gish filed earlier this year for the burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, and trespassing charges to be removed as the state concluded the cases’ evidence did not support those counts. The incident was alleged to have occurred at the Riverside Auto Spa. Through a plea agreement Davis and Langton were both convicted of fourth degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor. Langton had all but 10 days of a 60-day jail sentence suspended last June to serve one year of probation. She was ordered to pay a $430 fine with a 15% surcharge and category B restitution. Davis was convicted of the same charge last week and was ordered to pay pecuniary damages in the amount of $634.46 joint and several with Langton to the victim, and a $430 fine with a 15% surcharge and category B restitution.
