With the regular season in the rear view mirror, the latest cross country rankings have been released by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

In class 3A, the Washington Demons see the boys and girls both climb a few spots this week. The Demon boys are up one spot from 17th to 16th following their first Southeast Conference team cross country title since 1997. The Washington girls also rose in the poll this week from 20th to 18th. The Demon girls were also team champions of the Southeast Conference this week. That title is the first in program history. In the individual 3A poll, Lance Sobaski is up one spot to No. 6 for the Demon boys after capturing his second consecutive individual Southeast Conference title. Micah Rees stays put at No. 24.

In class 2A, the Mid-Prairie girls remain the No. 1 team in the state. The Golden Hawks were the runaway champions at last week’s River Valley Conference meet, missing a perfect score by just two points in claiming their fourth consecutive RVC title. The Mid-Prairie boys also held their same spot, checking in at No. 4 this week after finishing as runners-up at the RVC Championships behind No. 2 Tipton. In the 2A individual poll, all five individuals in the Mid-Prairie girls scoring lineup remain ranked, led by individual RVC Champion Danielle Hostetler at No. 1, where she has been all season. RVC runner-up Sydney Yoder is 14th this week, down one spot, Phoebe Shetler is 15th down one spot, Jaden Yoder is 19th down one spot and Mitzi Evans is 26th, down one spot. For the Golden Hawk boys, Thaddeus Shetler is seventh down one spot.

In class 1A, the Columbus boys are biggest mover of the week, up three spots to No. 14. The Wildcats were champions of their home Mike Jay Invitational this week at Cedarcrest Golf Course. In the individual 1A poll, Freddy Vergara stayed at No. 19 this week.
