The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has announced the regional brackets for KCII area teams.
In class 3A region six, the Washington Demons will open the playoffs at No. 7 West Liberty Monday. The Demons enter action with a 7-22 record, the Comets are 34-4. In the same bracket, the winner of the Washington/West Liberty match will get the winner of Mid-Prairie and Tipton. The Golden Hawks host the Tigers Monday night at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Mid-Prairie is 15-13 on the year, the Tigers are 9-23.
In class 2A region eight, Columbus will take part in a battle of the Wildcats Monday when they travel to Durant. Columbus is 4-20 on the year, Durant enters at 9-23. The winner will take on No. 2 Wilton.
In class 1A region six, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens begin the tournament trail Monday with a trip to HLV to meet the Warriorettes. The Ravens are 10-21 this year, HLV is 11-17. The winner of that match draws No. 4 Lisbon on Wednesday.
In class 1A region eight, it’s an all-KCII area match up in Wayland Monday when the WACO Warriors welcome the Keota Eagles to Bob Hilmer Court. WACO is 20-12 this season, Keota is 8-15.
In class 1A region seven, Lone Tree will host English Valleys to open the tournament Monday. The Lady Lions are 6-20 this year, EV is 5-21. The winner of the match will travel to Burlington to take on No. 1 Notre Dame on Wednesday. In the same regional a pair of KCII area teams will face off when Winfield-Mt. Union hosts Highland. The Lady Wolves are 20-10 on the season while Highland is 11-14. The winner of that contest will meet the winner of Wapello and Morningstar Academy on Wednesday in Wapello.
