A non-profit organization is up to their usual tricks and treats with their annual Halloween Trivia Hi-Jinx event this Friday.

Hospice of Washington County invites the public to bring their wickedly sharp minds and wear their most creative costumes for the event, with proceeds going to the organization which serves Washington, Henry, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, Louisa, and Muscatine counties. A portion of the proceeds will support their new building under construction just north of their current site. Hospice Director Katrina Altenhofen shares the recent progress, “This week we’ve had siding being put up, we’ve had our current, because we are keeping part of our current building that’s up on a cement slat, and so they’ve been in there, working, and reconstructing what will be our clean and dirty supply area that’ll have a laundry room in it. They’re continuing to run the electrical and the HVAC through the new building, but it’s remarkable to see the progress and how quickly it’s being accomplished.”

Hospice of Washington County was recently awarded a $400,000 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant for the project, which is expected to be completed this January. Teams can still register for the trivia night, with teams of four to 10 people and a $10 fee per person. Doors open for the event at 6 p.m. at Dallmeyer Hall at the Washington County Fairgrounds, with trivia starting at 7 p.m.
