A Wapello man was recently sentenced to prison for a sexual abuse charge.
Through a plea agreement, 29-year-old Dustin Michael Bibens was convicted of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdeameanor, with charges dismissed within 30 days of the court ruling on three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. Court documents show that Bibens will serve a two-year prison sentence concurrently with another two-year sentence he received in March for sex offender registration violation, an aggravated misdemeanor, and a five-year sentence he received in November of 2020 for forgery, a class D felony. He will also serve 10 years of probation following his prison time. The charges for assault stem from an investigation carried out in May of this year by the Wapello Police Department, Great River Medical Center and Louisa County Attorney’s Office. At the time, Bibens had also been using another person’s Facebook account to sexually harass females in the area.
