A juggernaut ended the Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball season on Monday when the Wolves traveled to face No. 1 Burlington Notre Dame in a class 1A regional semifinal and the Nikes won in straight sets. 

The home squad came out victorious with set scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-18. Gabby Deery and Josie Bentz teamed up for 28 kills. Melina Oepping led the Wolves’ offense with six kills. Keely Malone managed 20 assists and four blocks. Keetyn Townsley recorded 18 digs and was perfect on all 10 serve attempts. 

BND moves to 34-8 and they advance to the regional final tomorrow against Easton Valley (21-8). WMU closes the year 22-11 and second in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division with a 7-1 league mark. They bid farewell to five seniors in Carlee Sloan, Morgan Grelk, Kwyn Rossiter, Neva Garcia, and Annabelle Loveless.
