Simeon Reichenbach has slowly become a household name in Southeast Iowa with his play on the gridiron this fall. The junior bruising back for the undefeated WACO Warriors is known for wearing down opposing defenses in the rushing department, but the abilities of the 6’1’’ 185 pounder ranges much farther than running the rock.

He has amassed 1,143 yards rushing in 2021 on 146 carriers to rank first in eight-player district six with 7.8 yards a carry. The endzone has called his name 19 times and he has accounted for over 50% of the team’s rushing totals. In addition to putting up gaudy numbers in the ground game, Reichenbach has shown to be the ultimate utility weapon with a team leading 11 receptions for 176 yards and he has even tossed a pair of touchdowns on five completions. Defensively, he has racked up 27.5 tackles, picked off three passes for 54 yards, and has recovered a fumble. His arsenal wouldn’t be complete without evaluating the third phase of the game where he has plenty of impact. The junior averages 12 yards a punt return on 13 attempts and has amassed 202 yards in just eight kick returns. No one has connected on more field goals in eight-player than number 22, as he has nailed seven of 10 attempts with a long of 39 yards. Last week he hit a playoff game winner from 29 yards out in the closing seconds to lift WACO past Edgewood-Colesburg.

Reichenbach and the Warriors will hit the road to Martensdale-St. Mary’s (7-2) tomorrow for the second round of the playoffs. Listen to all of the action on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 6:30 p.m.
